StayByBike
Bike rental run from hotel receptions on the Costa del Sol — booking, payments, deposits and the locks themselves.
What it solves
A hotel guest wants a bike for the afternoon. The old way is a paper form, a photocopied passport and someone from the desk walking to the bike store. This replaces all of it: the guest books online or at reception, gets a PIN, and takes the bike.
The pieces
Not a website — a system. These are the parts that make it work.
Guest booking site
Pick a bike, choose the days, pay, and get a PIN. Multiple languages, because the guests are not Spanish.
Reception back office
Staff create bookings for walk-ins, hand bikes out, take them back, and see the day at a glance without touching the guest's payment details.
Admin console
The fleet across every hotel, pricing, bookings, damages and what each hotel is owed.
Phone app for the locks
Opens the Bluetooth bike locks with the booking PIN, talking to the lock directly instead of going through the manufacturer's cloud.
Payments and deposits
Card payment plus a security deposit that is held at pickup and released on return, handled through Stripe.
Worth pointing at
- Pickup is a PIN, not paperwork — nothing to sign at the desk.
- The deposit is released automatically when the bike comes back, so nobody has to remember.
- It also works for hotels that removed their smart locks: there the platform handles the booking and the hotel handles the handover.
- A separate QA environment mirrors production, with its own test payments, so nothing reaches real guests untested.
