Shipping MVPs with Claude Code
Building an MVP used to mean weeks of boilerplate before you could show anyone a real flow. With tools like Claude Code, that first draft arrives faster — but speed without scope still burns time.
What actually gets faster
Scaffolding, repetitive UI, glue between APIs, and “make this form work” tasks shrink dramatically. You can explore two interaction patterns in an afternoon instead of a sprint.
What does not get automated away:
- Choosing what not to build
- Talking to the person who will use it
- Deciding what “done” means for this week
A practical loop
- Write the outcome in one paragraph (who, job-to-be-done, success signal).
- List must-haves — three to five, not fifteen.
- Generate a thin slice with AI assistance: one path that works end to end.
- Review like a sceptical teammate — security, empty states, naming, handoff.
- Ship to a real user, then decide the next slice.
Clear scope still wins
Clients do not buy “AI magic.” They buy a working product with a known boundary. I use AI to move inside that boundary faster, then keep delivery hands-on: demos, written scope, and honest trade-offs.
